The best pictures are featured online and participants can comment, like and share the pictures through Facebook Connect, Twitter, Delicious or Email. Forrester twitted that sales of the trench increased by 85% since launch. The concept and execution are brilliant – i’ts creative, has longevity and gives people a reason to come back and share. Some pictures have over 1000 comments and ‘likes’. It would also make a beautiful photo exhibit and coffee book! Great benchmark for beauty brands to get inspired to engage with their communities online. How can you adapt this idea to your brand?

Sephora launched Sephora Claus on Twitter for the Holidays: "Tweet what you want from Sephora for the Holidays and we’ll grant one Sephora beauty wish each day until December 19th" (max $150 value). As of now, 30,895 wishes were submitted and 18 granted. There are 12 days left to go. Many people wonder about the value of Twitter for brands. This is a fantastic example on how to use Twitter for a purpose. Before making a wish, a large number of users had to visit Sephora’s website (I did!). Make your holiday wish and consider this type of campaign in the future.

PS: Brands should be all over this wish list to see what people want the most these days!! Fragrance, make up, skincare? Here is the beauty of socialweb tools…This is free research for any 3 year plan.

Lexli, an aloe vera skin care company, launched a new campaign which includes several social marketing tools. They created a separate blog called Real Skincare Solutions (even has a different look and feel from the ecommerce site) featuring Jessica D’Air, a certified esthetician as their brand ambassador. She invites users to follow her on Twitter, Facebook (her account, not Lexli), Google (this is quite new), and Linkedin. Another microsite will be launched later this week. We will follow this brand in the next few months to see how their campaign evolves. They just need to make sure that all elements stay tied together under the Lexli brand to avoid dilution.  All the pieces seem to be into place to succeed.

Luxury brands are realizing that it’s increasingly difficult to grab consumers’ attention these days.  Following on Chanel’s lead, Dior is releasing a film starring Marion Cotillard (Oscar winner, La Vie en Rose) as the mysterious "Lady Dior" – a Hitchcock-style film that features Cotillard and the Lady Dior handbag.  The film is set to be released over Memorial Day weekend.  Film and other forms of media are becoming increasingly popular as luxury brands struggle to both reach a broader audience and maintain an exclusive, unique image.
